Charter
Standard Club
As many of
you are no doubt aware, Welton FC was recently awarded the FA Charter
Standard Club Award. To gain this award, the Club had to demonstrate to
the FA that we met all of the guidelines and criteria expected by the
governing body of a well run club. We now have qualified (or soon to be)
coaches working with each team, CRB checks completed on all of our managers
and coaches, robust Child, Equal Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Policies,
as well as a formal Constitution and Codes of Conduct. The culmination
of 2 years hard work saw our Chairman , John Hill, receive the Award in
front of the crowd at the recent Lincoln versus Grimsby league 2 game.
However,
the Club is not going to stand still. Already, a group of managers is
planning the next stage up the FA Charter Standard ladder, aiming to achieve
Development Club status over the coming months. The hard work put in by
all of our managers and coaches over the last couple of years has given
us a strong platform from which to grow the Club, with plans to move into
adult football forming for next season. We can only achieve these goals
though, with the continuing support of you all, be it on match days helping
out the managers, or assisting with the fundraising or other tasks in
the background. For this support, we are extremely grateful and hope that
it will continue for years to come.
Under 14A Marathon Man
WELL DONE to Phil Cragg, Under 14A Manager, for successfully completing this year's London Marathon. From the man himself: "I managed to complete the marathon in 4 hours 54 mins. I managed to be overtaken in the process by a man with a tree growing out of his back, then banana man and finally a cornish pasty. Still, I finished in one piece and thanks to the generosity of many people from the football club, Welton and others I should be able to raise £10,000 for my charity Beating Bowel Cancer."
If anyone wishes to donate it's not too late. Follow this link to do so.
AGM
This year's AGM will take place at the Falconer on 12th June 2008, at 8.00pm
Under 13As Triumph in Cup Final
CONGRATULATIONS to the Under 13As who won their second successive Cup Final this evening, beating Greenbank 1-0 at Lincoln United's Ashby Avenue ground. Welton dominated the first half and a Callum Barnard strike gave them the advantage at the break. Greenbank got themselves into the game more during the second period but were unable to break down Welton's defences and a League and Cup double now looks a distinct possibility.
Well done to all the boys for winning more silverware for the club. Click here for a photo of skipper Sean McDowell receiving the trophy.
